ABET is the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies.
The Electrical Engineering Program is excited to receive the ABET accreditation. The accreditation “reflects our program's excellence and deep industry connections, as well as our team's singular focus on student success,” said Dr. Sudhir Shrestha, chair of the Engineering Department at Sonoma State University.
This is especially important to our graduates as they enter the workforce, knowing that their engineering education at SSU has prepared them to excel as engineers with responsibility for the welfare and safety needs of the public.
“I would like to congratulate the students, faculty, and staff of engineering on this significant accomplishment. The engineering department produces skilled engineers crucial to the North Bay economy. I am quite enthusiastic about the engineering department's growth prospects in the coming years. This also demonstrates the commitment of our school and campus to the quality of the education and training we offer our students,” said Dr. Elisabeth Wade, Dean of School of Science and Technology.
This would not have been possible without the help of so many university and community members. We would like to express our special gratitude to Dr. Farid Farahmand, Dr. Meng-Chih Su, Dr. Saeid Rahimi, and Dr. Ali Kujoory for leading this effort over the years. We would also like to thank the engineering faculty and staff for their talent and hard work, and our community and industry partners for all of their contributions and support to the program.
The Engineering Department at Sonoma State University offers Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree programs. The department is known for its state-of-the-art facilities, experienced faculty, and innovative, cutting-edge research projects.
