The 2019 Engineering Summer Research program provided internships to 13 Engineering undergraduate and four graduate students, and five high school students from local high schools. Students worked in cutting-edge research projects including in robotics, autonomous vehicles, wireless energy harvesting, RF and antennas, virtual reality (VR), and wearable medical devices. This year, students will present their results in Engineering Tech Talk on September 12 (12:00-1:00 PM, Engineering Complex 2009A) and at the 2019 SHIP Symposium on September 11 (6:00-8:00 PM, Darwin Lobby). Over the past seven years, the Engineering Department at Sonoma State University has been providing research opportunity to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students from SSU and surrounding institutions. Participants in the program work minimum of 10 weeks on their projects and present their outcomes at various local, regional, and national conferences and in scientific journals. Summer research scholars are selected by the mentoring faculty. This year's mentors included Dr. Farid Farahmand, Dr. Mohamed Salem, Dr. Sara Kassis, and Dr. Sudhir Shrestha. We would like to extend our gratitude to Ms. Kate Lapp and Mr. Shahram Marivani for their assistance to the program. Please contact Dr. Farid Farahmand (farid.farahmand at sonoma dot edu) for more information on the program.
