Student Laboratory Access Policy

  • Students can request access to the instructional engineering labs where they have scheduled laboratory classes. These labs include Salazar 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
    • For example, if you are enrolled in EE 221 and if it is scheduled in Salazar 2005, you can request access to the lab for the semester you are enrolled.
  • Lab access is given to students on a semester basis only. Students have to request access at the beginning of each semester, including summer.
  • Graduate students can request access to the Graduate Student Lab, Salazar 2002.
  • Prior authorization from the research lab director is required to request access to a research lab. For example, prior authorization from Dr. Mohamed Salem is required for access to eeL (Salazar 2000).
  • Prior authorization from the department chair is required if requesting access to a lab where students do not have a scheduled laboratory class.
  • Students must adhere to the department’s general laboratory and any posted laboratory rules and regulations. Food or drink are not permitted in any of the engineering labs. Violation of the rules will result in the removal of access to all engineering labs for the semester. Repeated violations will result in a loss of access for a longer period of time.
  • Students must have completed the SSU Engineering Lab Safety Rules. For research or graduate lab access, please submit the form to engineering@sonoma.edu.
  • Process to request lab access:
    • Fill out the Student Key Request form available on Forms webpage.
    • List the building and room number you are requesting access to (e.g., Salzar 2005). Please fill out one room per line.
    • Choose the semester you are requesting.
    • Submit the form.
