Dr. Lord has taught for more than twenty years at various universities, including Iowa State University, the University of Utah, the University of California, Davis, and SSU. She has spent several years working as a technical communicator in government, non-profit organizations, and for-profit organizations. She currently studies how to convey information to both subject matter experts and generalists, how to discuss scientific and technical information in ways that engage the public, how to make use of best practices to develop innovative and useful design outcomes, and how best to manage collaborative projects in a shifting, global economy. She enjoys helping SSU students to apply knowledge and skills that transfer from academic to professional contexts, and vice versa.
