The Electrodynamics Engineering Laboratory (EEL) at the Engineering Department offered a workshop on through-hole soldering skills and techniques as part of its ongoing skill-building and enrichment workshops program. The workshop syllabus was prepared and delivered by Adam Ortega, David Story, Joseph Haun and David House under supervision of Dr. Mohamed Salem, the director of EEL. The participants were freshmen students attending EE 110 (Introduction to Engineering Laboratory and Experience) class, lead by Dr. Farid Farahmand. The students learned the essential skills necessary to successfully solder various through-hole components as well as the necessary safety precautions. The students soldered a variable tone generating circuit. About 15 freshmen students participated in the workshop. Thanks to Dr. Farahmand for incorporating the workshop in the class schedule, and special thanks to Joseph Haun, Adam Ortega and David Story for preparing and delivering the material!
