Congratulations to our undergraduate EE students Andres Rivera, Tony Jang, and Nathan Candler for representing Sonoma State University at the COPLAC Midwest/West 2020 URSCA Conference, in November. The engineering team presented their project entitled "The Greenhouse Project.” This research project started in Summer 2020 and it is a collaboration between the Engineering Department at SSU and the Petaluma Bounty Farm in Petaluma, CA.

The conference included student representatives from other campuses, including Truman State University, Midwestern State University, University of Illinois Springfield. URSCA Conference is an annual event to showcase undergraduate research, scholarly and creative activity.

"Taking part in the conference was a great opportunity for us as a group to present our research results. I always appreciate presentations because they give me an opportunity to work on my public speaking skills which I feel could always use practice. As a group, I think that we benefited from giving this presentation because it was to people that do not have experience with the project, so figuring out how to be insightful but also relatable was challenging but definitely good practice for projects in the future", pointed out Nathan Candler.

"I found the URSCA conference to be very helpful in bettering our presentation skills as a group. I also appreciated the opportunity to talk about the project that we have been working on for nearly a year. Overall, this was a very fun and beneficial experience", said Andres Rivera.

"I believe that attending this conference was very beneficial for our team because it helped us become more confident in public speaking and explaining our ideas clearly", added Tony Jang.
