Engineering Alumni Return to Support Senior Design Expo at Sonoma State University

On May 8, 2026, Sonoma State University’s Engineering Department welcomed a strong group of alumni back to campus to participate in the annual Senior Design Project Expo. Alumni attended the event to review student projects, share professional insights, and engage directly with current engineering students as they presented the results of their year-long work.

The Senior Design Expo featured a wide range of projects involving embedded systems, wireless communication, robotics, sustainability, software development, and applied artificial intelligence. Throughout the presentations, alumni interacted with student teams, asked technical questions, and offered valuable feedback based on their experiences working in industry and research.

The participation of alumni added an important real-world perspective to the event. Many graduating students had the opportunity to discuss technical challenges, project design decisions, and career goals with professionals who once sat in the same classrooms and laboratories at Sonoma State University.

Faculty members noted that alumni involvement continues to strengthen the connection between the Engineering Department and its graduates. The event highlighted the collaborative culture of the program and demonstrated how former students continue to contribute to the growth and success of the department long after graduation.

For many alumni, the expo also provided an opportunity to reconnect with faculty, see the evolution of the engineering facilities and curriculum, and witness the creativity and technical capabilities of the current generation of SSU engineering students.

The Engineering Department sincerely thanks all alumni who returned to campus to support the Senior Design Project Expo and share their time, expertise, and encouragement with students preparing to begin their professional careers.
