With businesses around the country facing an economic crisis due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, finding measures to ensure company doors stay open is in high demand. Many businesses focus on daily health screenings of their employees to keep maladies from the workplace, and a device that can screen employees efficiently, rapidly, all while ensuring optimum employee safety by being a completely touchless system is a possible solution. There are multiple companies that have addressed this issue; however, their solutions are not complete as they either cannot guarantee being touch-free or do not encompass all the procedures the HOTT Kiosk will address. The HOTT Kiosk team is proposing a touchless temperature-taking kiosk that will be a completely autonomous station to screen incoming employees to their place of work. Our kiosk will determine the user identity by scanning their company RFID card and checking it against a database of known ID’s, determine the user’s temperature by a thermal sensor, ask screening questions that will have touchless responses, store collected data in a database, and alert those in charge if there are any complications or concerns. This kiosk will be beneficial in not only a sanitary scope, but also monetarily, aiding in ensuring employees are healthy as well as reducing company payroll costs.
